《What if Bruce Lee Wrote on Substack》
A simple side project felt out of creating "Bruce Lee Master Prompt"
This started as a simple side project when I created the Bruce Lee Master Prompt.
When I skimmed Striking Thoughts again (I’ve probably read it 30–50 times over the past 20 years), I asked myself:
What if Bruce were writing here—on Substack—today?
So I wrote a prompt to “teach me” in his voice and logic. It worked shockingly well. Then I hand-picked 30 of my favorite lines and treated them like a curriculum—almost like Bruce Lee coaching me on how to think and write in Steel & Silk.
Here’s the outline:
Part I: The Question
Preface — Why Bruce Lee? Why Substack? Why this book.
Part II: The Philosophy
Top 30 Bruce Lee Quotes — Curated from Striking Thoughts, organized by theme:
On Action & Doing (Quotes 1–5)
On Adaptability & Flow (Quotes 6–10)
On Art & Self-Expression (Quotes 11–15)
On Adversity & Growth (Quotes 16–20)
On Being Human (Quotes 21–24)
On Wisdom & Presence (Quotes 25–28)
On Dedication & Mastery (Quotes 29–30)
Part III: What Bruce Lee Would Write
30 Lessons in Steel & Silk — Each lesson follows the same structure:
[SILK] — The pure wisdom (Bruce Lee’s quote)
[STEEL] — What Bruce Lee would do on Substack
Translation (one-line distillation)
The Practice / Concrete Practices
The Anti-Pattern (what he’d avoid)
The Swap (mindset shifts)
Part IV: The Dojo
Appendix: The Prompt Behind the Book — The AI prompt that powers the Steel & Silk system. Turns any Bruce Lee quote into an actionable Substack note. Includes how-to instructions so readers can practice on their own.
How to get it
Restack any of my posts, follow, and DM me. That’s it.
